By the river of Taan, there is a Xian-Bi Tribe. Whenever heavy rain comes, this tribe will have to weather the danger of mudslides. The smoothness of the traffic on the only bridge connecting them to the outside world is also dependent upon the weather climate. Among all these, however, there is a female Atayal, Yuma Taru, who gave up her stable civil service job in the lowlands and spent over a year finding the almost extinct ramie seeds. Beginning from planting ramie, she learned all of Ayatal’s knowledge about the land, climate and traditional weaving culture. Moreover, she received special instructions from tribal elders on esoteric weaving techniques. Yuma shared this lost weaving culture and passed it down in the minuscule workshop situated in the valley. This opportunity of remaking traditional weaved products allows female weavers of the mountain to learn a functional skill that can bring home a stable source of income.
