Pastor Bai, who has contracted polio, possesses a will and dedication that surpass ordinary people. He donated his clan’s land and built an estate that allowed tribal inhabitants to earn their living, as well as giving the general public an opportunity to know more about the indigenous people. Here, there are no abandoned children and no shortage of caring for the old. Here, everyone has a job that ties with Bunun’s culture. Regardless of age, every old person, adult or child has multiple tasks and identities. They are farmers, artists and tour guides to the estate. They are also stage performers who do not require any rehearsal to sing Bunun’s Eight Part Harmony. When they promote their own culture to the outsiders, it also takes root among the tribal people.
